Customizing Rogue Trooper in 1/6 by TOYSREVIL (WIPs Vol.1)

Celebrating the 37th birthday of British comic institution; 2000 A.D. by playing with toys from the comic's pool of characters! That's how I roll :)

Today, I decided to dust off the years of anonymity and crud of my 1/6th unfinished interpretation of "ROGUE TROOPER". And as well take this opportunity to spur myself on, in finally completing this custom figure! :)

I remember having the intention of having multiple hoses coming out of his back-pack (Codenamed: "Bagman") which were attached to his chest ("nipples" hurhur) and shoulders, as some sort of physical interaction between his body and the chip embedded into "Bagman" … but then 3A Toys appeared with hoses-galore sticking out of their soldiers, so I decided to ditch this idea,, in lieu I get flack for "copying" … years on till now, I've since changed me mind, innit? HAH!

Still needs to sort out a Rifle (Codename: "Gunnar") that has a sleeve slotted in his hand … although I am leaning towards having one of his arms BE a rifle / weapon instead of holding one … but the "hardest" task - which has been for years, actually - was to find a proper battle helmet for him (Codename: "Helm"). Or simply the figure I chose had too narrow a head-sculpt in the first place!

I chose this Action Man body because I had wanted a chunkier build, and frankly not as much visible joints (which means I had given up more "articulation" with this choice), and he had q unite a handsome and yet stoic facial feature. Time will tell if I decide to further develop this body, or change a figure type all together ...

1/6-customs aside, what I do not understand is, after all these years, no one has ever made a #roguetrooper "live"-action film? Is the subject matter too close for comfort? I personally think this concept would make an awesome post-war/apocalyptic film ... And no, "Universal Soldier" does not count, and hopefully folks won't say the blue-skin is a rip off from James Cameron's "Avatar" hahahaha

WHO-IS: "Rogue Trooper is a science fiction strip in the British comic 2000 AD, created by Gerry Finley-Day and Dave Gibbons. It follows the adventures of Rogue, a G.I. (or Genetic Infantryman, a genetically modified, blue-skinned, manufactured elite soldier) and his three comrades' search for the Traitor General. His comrades are in the form of biochips (onto which a G.I.'s entire personality is downloaded at the time of death for later retrieval) and are named Gunnar (mounted on Rogue's rifle), Bagman (on his backpack) and Helm (on his helmet). He is genetically engineered to be immune to almost all known toxins. He can submerge in strong acid unaffected, and is able to withstand a vacuum in his bare skin." (Wiki)

Received my Little Shadow V2 from ThreeA Toys not too long ago (nostalgic musings on TOYSREVIL), and decided to do a quick visual review of it against a setting sun, and the result was less than satisfying so I'd decided to redo it for later … meanwhile, here are some snaps uploaded on my Instagram @toysrevil thus far, along with some thoughts in the caption, to share here on this blog.

Enjoy :)
